The Hotel Caravel is located between the historic center of Rome and the EUR financial district. A convenient location for both business and leisure stays.

Located in the Garbatella district, between the EUR financial district and the historic center of Rome, the Hotel Caravel is just a 25-minute drive from Fiumicino airport and has excellent connections to the major points of interest in the city.

The Garbatella metro station, just 3 stops from the Colosseum and 5 from Termini station, is a 15-minute walk away. Furthermore, just in front of the hotel, there is a bus stop with lines (30-express, 160, 714, 715) that reach the historical centre.

Stayed here in August with another couple. Modern hotel with large basic bedrooms and good air conditioning. We had a roadside room but were not disturbed by traffic. We arrived at 11am and were able to leave our cases in the storage room until check in at 4pm. You canStayed here in August with another couple. We arrived at 11am and were able to leave our cases in the storage room until check in at 4pm. You can also use this facility on check out. As part of our package, breakfast was only an extra £2 per night which was incredible value, even if just for a coffee. The selection was European, no full English, but there was a wide range of fruits, yoghurts, breads, pastry, cakes and cereals. I would say that in a 4* hotel, fresh fruit juices rather than illuminous concentrates would be a big improvement (check out the apple!). The hotel is in a residential area, 30 mins in a taxi from Fiumicino. We didn’t use public transport, just got an Uber to a more central location (never more than €15 during the day, but prices did go up after 10pm) we walked to the Vatican and stoped for food and drinks on the way in Trastevere which was around 4 miles. Rome has a tourist tax of €7.50 per adult per night payable on departure. All in all, you could stay closer to the centre, but would probably pay double the price.

This hotel is fine if you’re willing to walk 20mins to the nearest public transport or pay for taxis but do not recommend otherwise. The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were basic but clean. The beds are not very comfy - they are very hard. The WiFi isn’t great. We had breakfast our first morning but didn’t have again as found it was a lot cheaper to eat at local cafes and they had much nicer food / drinks.

The caravel is a lovely hotel with plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops within walking distance (10 mins) and to top it off spotless rooms and all public areas. The staff are faultless polite and always willing to help with all enquiries. The cons The overall location of the hotel isn’t greatThe caravel is a lovely hotel with plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops within walking distance (10 mins) and to top it off spotless rooms and all public areas. The staff are faultless polite and always willing to help with all enquiries. The cons The overall location of the hotel isn’t great but not terrible it’s a good 40 min walk to the colosseum, busses and taxis are widely available tho taxi around (€10-€13 (weekdays to colosseum). The breakfast is pretty limited and could do with a little improvement to bring it up to a 4* standard. Overall experience off the hotel is fantastic and would definitely stay again if I returned to Rome.

The hotel was an easy 40 minute walk from the Colosseum, which for most the time we didn’t find a problem at all. It was a nice enough walk. The buses were very simple to use right near the hotel if needed. The hotel itself was clean and the staff were very nice. Breakfast was a lovely mix of choices, which we were impressed with. Everything felt fresh and the staff replaced stuff often. A couple little changes would’ve made the hotel perfect. Firstly our room didn’t come with a fridge but we managed to ask at reception and got one the same night. There were plastic cups which we didn’t mind but would’ve been nice for a 4* hotel to provide proper cups and glasses. The bar looked absolutely lovely, but isn’t open Friday and Saturday evenings which we weren’t aware of. Also on leaving you’re charged a €7.50 tourist tax, which we did know about beforehand, but just a heads up if staying here. Overall a really lovely choice if staying in Rome!
