The Hotel Terminus was built in 1900 on Lungo Lario di Levante, today Lungo Lario Trieste, by the architect Italo Zanolini. It retains in its name, Terminus, the memory of its original function as a "thermal spa" of the nearby Grand Hotel Plinius, and was built to celebrate the centenary of the first electric battery, an invention by Alessandro Volta.
