Looking forward to a quiet relaxing holiday I was very surprised to hear the SPA that had been part of our decision making does not exist ! When asked the management said they do not have planning permission yet !!!!
Another disappointment was the Superior room we had booked and paid extra for means a standard room with a coffee machine, a dressing gown and flip flops ! Really !!?!?
The ‘peace’ was not possible as the hotel was overtaken by so many families with young children. The parents daily bagged all the sun beds around the pool before 8am - one should be aware that there are not enough beds for all the hotel residents.
Also Important to note is the pool is only open from 10am- 6pm so no chance of an early morning swim !
The new noisy Children’s Water Park outside our bedroom balcony was not even mentioned on the website !!! And the also noisy children’s entertainment which began every night at 830pM with ‘The Birdie Song’ did not help our ‘peaceful ‘ dinner in the outside dining area !!!
The beach bar beautifully described on the website as ‘our beach bar ‘ with ‘our staff’ is a small walk from the hotel and not part of the hotel as implied . Drinks and food are therefore not part of the All inclusive package and must be paid for!! ( albeit discount given on food 20% and drinks 10%)
However the beach bar was our saving grace ! Beautiful and peaceful with lovely loungers ! Waitress service to the loungers was much appreciated and lunch at the dining area was always enjoyable ! Glad to say the wine was very drinkable ! The beach itself has apparently eroded over the last few years so only one row of beds now possible ( €20 pr day for pair) We managed to find a wider longer beach on the last day which was also lovely but no facilities !
The website for the hotel gives the impression of such a peaceful place for a holiday and could not be further from the truth ! How a holiday hotel can be so misrepresented is beyond my belief !!

The decision to holiday there was influenced by some good reviews, the fact it had a spa, an all inclusive option, their website oozing with emotive descriptions such as “peaceful, rest, relaxation, sophistication and timeless allure” and a beach bar.

We elected to upgrade to a superior room but were surprised and disappointed at how small it was and checking against the illustration on the website it looked suspiciously like a standard room! We took this up with a manager who explained that there was no difference in size between the two options! So, what did we pay extra for? Apparently, a superior room “has a mini coffee machine, flip flops and a bath robe”! This had to be a joke. We subsequently learned that a “superior” room also had “luxury bath amenities”. Couldn’t fathom what these were!
On the plus side the rooms were tastefully decorated, cleaned and bed made up daily. A design flaw was that the in-room fridge was housed in a cupboard with a door so consequently kept overheating and cutting out. The outlook from our room was disappointing, overlooking a children’s water park! No mention of this on their website.
On our second day, my wife enquired about the Spa as although known as “Argile Resort and Spa”, there were no details on the website. Turns out that it has not been built yet! Same goes for the Juice Bar! Misleading or what? Apparently one can a have a massage in the room. Must be what the bath robes were for!
The pool bar serves drinks, ice cream and cake. The pool is nice enough and appeared to be well maintained. No chance of an early morning swim though as not allowed in the pool before 10am nor after 6pm. It was noted that there were no life guards. We guessed the hotel accommodates around 500 guests. However, the double covered loungers around the pool numbered just 32. Needless to say, at crack of dawn the single notice not to reserve the loungers was ignored and not enforced with all loungers bedecked with towels, inflatable sharks etc way before breakfast!
We elected not to stay by the pool but instead made the short walk down to the Xi beach each day and the Alaya Beach bar area. This was very well designed with plenty of comfortable shaded loungers. These are on a level above the beach. On the beach there were covered loungers for 20 Euros for two per day. The photos of the beach on their website were very misleading because it has almost been eroded to nothing with about 1.5m of sand between the sea and the rocks.
The Alaya Bar is referred to on the website as “our beach bar” and “our bar staff” but we were surprised to discover that it is not part of the all inclusive deal although you get a 20% discount on the food and 10% discount on any drinks. The food at the bar overall was pretty decent and the waitress service to the loungers was also good.
The website refers to “the main buffet area” implying that there are others. There are not. The website depicts an open sided eating area. This is a very small part of the restaurant with about 95% being in an enclosed cafeteria. We always ate at the Alaya for lunch but we elected to always eat in the small open area for breakfast and dinner. At mealtimes the cafeteria area was bedlam. At dinner it was a toss up to either not being able to hear yourself speak inside or listen to the Birdie song, Agadoo etc from the children’s entertainment at 8.30 for about an hour about 20m away. Something we really did not like were the number of cats prowling around the tables at mealtimes with not only the children feeding them but also the waiters!
Apparently, relatively recently, two Eastern European tour operators have contracted with the Argile and as a result, was at full capacity with families with very young children. Sorry to say “peaceful, rest, relaxation, sophistication and timeless allure” it was not.
To summarise, the Argile Resort (without Spa) fell disappointingly short of our expectations that we feel were framed by the misleading content of their website.

I live nearby this hotel & knew that it was being refurbished. I visited at the end of May & it didn't appear to be open. Visited again today, July 8th & was very disappointed. Visited again today, July 8th & was very disappointed. The bar area was not exactly welcoming & we asked for one red & one white wine. The red was actually warm, not the normal "room" temperature. When we asked for some ice, the barman argued that red was normally served at this temperature. Not! In any case you don't argue with a customer who asks for ice, you just say, certainly! The tables had not been wiped & the pedestals were dirty. I have run bars before and would not let that slide! Inexcusable as there were only 6 people in the bar. All in all, a disappointing visit to a hotel that can only have been open a few weeks.

NOT HAPPY - WHAT A SHAMBLES !!!
I wanted a nice relaxing chilled time away with hubby , chose this resort as LOOKED the part in all the photos and looked a high end 4 star resort , it looks it, but I can assure you it’s not! !!!!!!!

Reviews at the time of booking seemed good. Then several dire reviews, so I was concerned
I emailed to the hotel prior to arrival to ensure everything was right before we arrived , we had booked a superior room, and we decided to upgrade to AI and just wanted to check out some minor details with the hotel and dealt with the reservations manager, we were assured that they were in a transitional period of renovations and were told all was now good, telling us about the superior rooms and what to expect.
Upon arrival at 9pm we were met by a surly unhappy receptionist whom did not even say welcome, which would have been nice after a long day travelling.
There was no welcome drink, as stated in brochures, we asked about it, and she said you don’t get one at this time of night. She gave us our room key and pointed us is the general direction of our room, i asked for a map of the grounds, so we could find our way - she advised that they didn’t have any ! They are waiting for them as they had not been printed !
it took us nearly 30 mins of dragging our suitcases , and asking people, and a lovely lady whom worked in the girt shop giving us advice to finally find the room (no lifts) and up 2 flights of stairs, dragging suitcases , no porter or even anyone to show us to our room., after a long day travelling not what one wants
When we finally got to our room it was not the superior room that we booked, but a small standard room, back down to reception, where we told by the receptionist that it was the correct room, when I said that it didn’t have all the extras that the superior advertised ( and were paid for) she said she would get housekeeping to send all the extras up, when I said this wasn’t a superior room though , she then admitted it wasn’t, and then said we only booked a standard, upon showing her my documentation and proof of a superior , she argued and said we were allocated a standard as that was what we had booked, standing my ground I again showed her my documentation, after getting further proof from going back to the room, luckily we had printed hard copies of everything .
I showed the copies, only to be told by a tearful Ammina? there was nothing she could do! There wasn’t any, superior rooms available and even if these was she didn’t have the authorisation to give us one. There is no one in charge in the evenings , so we would have to stay in the standard room , she advised that it was only her on reception ( Amira/Aminna?) , don’t forget this is a huge resort, and she told us there was no manager or night manager to deal with problems, she told us to sleep in the room we were allocated , and sort it out the next day!
Wasting time out of our holiday - really not happy! - don’t forget I had emailed the hotel dealing with the reservation manager several days prior to make sure it all ran smoothly.
I explained this firmly but nicely and said it was acceptable and I wasn’t happy and then when I said there must be someone whom could deal with it , she then managed to contact apparently the top manager of the hotel (Eleni) , she finishedcthe call, she said she didn’t have the authorisation to move us. I said you just spoke to the general manager she must have the authorisation ? She said yes but she said she won’t deal with it tonight and you have to stay where you are!
Whilst this was going on another English couple over heard and approached and said that had arrived 2 days before and exactly the same thing had happened to them , booking a superior and given a standard and were told to come back the next day and wasted hours only to be told that they had over allocated on rooms and there was nothing they could do, and wished me luck
So it appears this far like it’s standard practice at the Argile .
When I asked if this was a regular thing as it seems it is , the receptionist said several times, I don’t think it’s right, but what can I do? I just work here, then when I said we had paid a lot of money and I emailed to ensure all was right , she just said I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO, When and several times during our conversation she said she I DONT CARE! I JUST WORK HERE, that’s when I asked for her name, and said I would be writing a review and wanted to make sure I had names

In our opinion, the food offered to hotel guests is tasty, varied, there are Greek and continental dishes, everyone can find something for themselves, regardless of their age group. Observing the employees of Hotel Argile on a daily basis, one cannot fail to notice their commitment to everyday work, kindness and openness towards our guests. In our opinion, Mrs. Julie deserves a bowel movement. We saw her working in various positions, most often at the bar at the reception.
