Hotel Details
Hotel Lago di Como is located in the streets around the Colico’s lakefront promenade, a maze at best, and it acts as a symbol of traditional hospitality. It is situated at the bottom of Mount Legnone from where it is easy to reach one of the main beaches for swimming or train station that can be reached within five minutes’ walk. The hotel features a restaurant, peaceful courtyard garden and free Wi-Fi thereby offering its clients calmness and satisfaction during their visits. On Tripadvisor, many reviewers have written about fabulous breakfasts and dinners which come at no extra cost.
On top of this, Colico presents hikers with different scenic trails while lovers of bike rides will find themselves in various cute wine bars with live music especially pleasant on warm summer nights. Additionally, one may choose to explore such historical gems as Varenna or Bellagio by simply boarding a ferry from right outside the hotel’s reception area.

Not a hotel for English speaking guests

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in April 2024. Our experience was one of disappointment. The hotel stated they provided guest wifi which was not the case during our entire stay. The menu for hotel guests was very limited and repetitive. Poor quality food for breakfast and dinner. The service in the hotel was extremely poor especially at dinner. We often had to wait for up to 50 plus minutes to be served. We did complain but received a response that stated no guests waited for more than 15 minutes. This response was not true. The television had no English speaking channels, not even a news channel for English speaking guests. On questioning this we were told they had never been asked about this before. Some of the staff were friendly but this is not a hotel we would recommend to guests from England.

Situated in the old narrow streets there is no parking which can be an issue , but by being in the main part of the town means just a short walk to the promenade and lakeside with its bars and shops. We were lucky enough to arrive during a music festival so really had a taste of Italy . Nice room and food , lovely staff and reasonably priced.

Hidden and pleasant

Located in good position for reaching every place of Colico, also hidden for not suffering the traffic of the main road. It is a good solution for leaving from here to reach very interesting destinations where enjoying artistic and naturalistic attractions. The rooms are nice, quite large and comfortable. The staff is kind and professional.

Great value hotel in Colico near lake Como

We arrived at 10pm on Monday night due to flight delays getting in to Milan, a little concerned we would find reception shut, but needn’t have worried - they have 24 hour coverage. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive, our room was spotless, and well provided for with facilities. Wifi was good, and breakfast was excellent. Tremendous value for money and a great start to our touring holiday on trains including the Bernina and Glacier Express, well recommended.

I went to Italy with my family in July and our second stop was Lake Como. We stayed at Hotel Lago di como and my first impressions were just ok. First, it was hard to find it wouldn't register in our GPS and when called the hotel for more clarification on where it was we couldn't understand the person on the line because there was slight language barrier, but we eventually firgured it out we just picked a spot close to the hotel and eventually we found it. At first I didnt really like the area where it was it didn't seem i guess friendly, but I quickly changed my mind once I saw the lake which was close by the hotel. The hotel itself is on a bit of a hill, and there isn't much in the way of parking (you have to search for a spot) which can be out of the way. With all that said I have to say this hotel is one of my favourites. The staff is nice and really helpful. The rooms were nice and clean, and great view. The bathroom is nice I enjoyed the high pressure shower and hot water. Good service. Overall lots of room and comfortable.The bed was comfortable no complaints. And once you wonder around the area you quickly see that its nice, friendly, and a clean place. There is also a restuarant attached we dined there once and they actually had really good food. I loved the breakfast, good selection. So, overall this was definitley a good hotel and spot to visit in Lake Como,and I would stay there again.
