Sardinia: Deluxe 4-Night Escape With Meals & Wine

Just got back from our holiday in Sardinia which we loved. We had a car for the week so we visited quite a few places/beaches. The hotel was fine for our purposes very clean throughout including the pool. We had breakfast, evening meal with wine included. The breakfast was fine with everything you could want, the evening meal was ok, there was always something we could eat, a lot of choice,probably enjoyed the salad bar, pastas rather than the other cooked mains, but the desserts and ice cream changed everyday and were very popular. You helped yourselves to as much wine as you liked, it was ok. If anything I wished the dinner service was longer cos everyone rushed in at 7.30 which we didn’t want to do but it finished at 9pm and they were trying to get you out. The room was ok, needed updating but functional, we had a small balcony which overlooked the front of the hotel, it was quiet enough. The market on the Monday was right opposite the hotel and was worth going , they sold everything from clothes to food and fish, this was interesting.

My husband and I stayed here for a week 1st week in June and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the pool, it was nice and quiet and had everything we needed. Everywhere was kept really clean and the staff were lovely. The outdoor pool area was very good with lots of sun beds and parasols which were always available. The pool was quite cold but very clean and it was early season. We stayed half board plus wine which we couldn’t fault, there was plenty of choice at breakfast, bacon, scrambled eggs, cold meats, cheeses, yoghurt, fruit, cereals, breads, jams, pastries , cakes, fruit juices and even a barista making fresh coffee of you choice. The evening meal was very good beautiful local salads/starters very well presented and flavourful, pastas and risottos and meat fish options. Plenty of desserts fresh fruit and homemade ice creams. There was red or white wine and both were very good. The hotel is located in a small village with a a couple of supermarkets, artisan shops and quite a few bars and restaurants. The harbour area is lovely on an evening with little stalls selling jewellery, clothes etc all lit up. There was also a little funfair if you had small children and a small beach. The Monday market was interesting and we bought some local cheese and salami to bring home which they vac packed for us. I know there have been a few negative reviews but we were very happy with the hotel and I am sure we will return again. We love Italy and have visited quite a few different areas from the north right down south to Sicily and Sardinia certainly didn’t disappoint.

Initially I was very happy with the hotel and it's facilities. The rooms are very clean and well serviced although for me the TV service only offered a few channels to watch and only in Italian language. I am an extensive traveller business and privately and expect to see at least the usual English news channels and to be able to log into my Netflix account but this is unavailable here. Be aware that some rooms have very small balconies, some have decent sized ones and some have no balcony at all. The public areas such as the bar, lounge and pool areas are all nice, open and clean. The pool area is nice but there are limited numbers of sun loungers that are uncomfortable to use. Be careful, the pool is unheated and COLD. The area has toilets and showers that are unisex!?! The bar / lounge area is served by one small bar where service is slow. The drinks are very over priced and is hotel card purchase only no cash payments accepted. On check out day it's difficult to buy drinks or snacks if you need to wait for your taxi to the airport beyond room checkout time. A small bottle of water costs €3 where locally same bottles are €0.65. A can of lemon drink is €3.35 where locally €0.85. Beware of the mark up here on all beverages. The restaurant is generally good, generous breakfast is included / evening dinner is included. Dining late will result in menu choices being unavailable for popular dishes. Beware of under cooked meats on the hot counter though, last night was a poor night for the restaurant which served very under cooked suckling pig. Also watch the food hygiene practice here, I witnessed a drink spillage being cleaned up this morning at the juice station, wiped the floor up and the drinks counter (in this order) with the same piece of kitchen roll!?!? Finally I asked if the room could be kept on for 3 hours after checkout time only to be offered the option for a charge of €100! I declined but would have paid a sensible charge really. On booking.com a room was available tonight for €95 including breakfast COME ON GUYS BE FAIR WITH YOUR PRICING. RIPPING THE ARSE OUT OF IT DOESN'T MAKE FOR REPEAT VISITS.

The hotel infrastructure is lovely and very well located, walking distance to many restaurants and the small center with shops, groceries, etc. The main downside is the food. Very poor breakfast selection, everyday the same offering. The dinner was just ok, for deserts if you are not there to get the first slices you will end up without the good ones, as they do not refill it. I was filling my baby bottle with water, to be used during the dinner and one of the staff members told me I couldn't do that. Never in my life I have experienced that before, it was a 300mls cup/bottle for a baby! I am not talking about 2L bottle. There's no changing station in the hotel common areas, so not super baby friendly in that sense.
