Wolgang Mejia was my butler and he was the best. The staff provided great entertainment and I had a great time. There was always something going on. Beautiful views and good food. What can I say, what an amazing family holiday a holiday of a lifetime. I have to start with rayner and Carlos Charles both amazing people and great service in the privilege pool area. Algenis in the villa marina and one other unfortunately I didn’t get his name he works in the steakhouse aswel they both gave us exceptional service.
The entertainment was good only minor issue was with the white beach party just wish they made it more of a party and let the dj play good music and dance how they want instead of trying to get people to do there silly dancing!! Not overly impressed with the lobby bar has had to continually ask for premium drinks which I had clearly paid for and my wristband was on show! We’re were in room 10315 room was always very clean and mini bar stocked up. Eloy was our butler we couldn’t ask for anymore always there when we needed and got every reservation we asked for. Thanks Eloy! Just wish a/c could have been abit cooler. There was so much variety with the food the Italian restaurant for us is the best by along way!
Can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend to family and friends.

Not what we expected

Arrived on the 20th July check in was quick & luggage taken to our room 8128,upon opening the door there was a mouldy /mildew smell ,reported to Denis ( Tui rep) who was very good ,after two days it seemed to be sorted out ( no smell) .

Animation Blue Team were very unfriendly unless you spoke Spanish ,walked right passed the first pool & never spoke ,seemed more interested getting to the pool nearest the beach .
The buffet restaurant food was plentiful & you would never go hungry ,to book two restaurants you had to queue before 7am to book ( steakhouse& Japanese) ,one morning we booked before breakfast coz no queue( 8.30am) the booking guy was abrupt & rude & needs a lesson in customer service ,there’s no air con in the buffet restaurant which makes for unpleasant dining .
Take plenty of bug spray & cream ( Anthisan) with you,my partner was bitten quite badly & had to see the doctor costing $200, ended up in hospital costing another $945( lucky we had insurance) ,don’t know if they’re bed bugs or mosquitos.
The surrounding areas gardens etc are kept very clean & tidy ,the pool on one day was a bit cloudy & couldn’t see the bottom .
Most of the staff are unfriendly & unwelcoming ,this was our first visit & will not be returning .

Arrived a day late to the resort due to cancellation of flight fir 24 hrs when we went to check in she couldn’t find our rooms till we told her we were day late then she went into back to get our booking

Went to rooms block 8 as previous years stay but turned left this time nit right to room 8212 and 8215
Things seemed fine on arrival as week went on the electrics became dodgy in room8212 no fan no main light no bedside lights
Room 8215 had a really bad sewage smell which got worse over next few days it turned out to be pipe under sink had disconnected
This was our 4 th visit to this hotel and we found a lot of the staff to be very rude this year
We did have some lovely staff in the buffet which I’d like to mention Carlos and Manuel made our breakfast everyday very special Evelyn in the Mexican was delightful and Mini Cooper acknowledged us very friendly the rest of the animation team were nit friendly at all unless you were Puerto Ricon
The food was good it was hard to get even water at lunch time in the beach resteraunt so gave up in the end
The standard has gone down in this hotel and after retuning for the last three years I’m afraid I won’t be returning again
It is definately only a 3 star hotel now in my estimation

Just returned from a 7 day stay at Ocean Blue and Sand - for context there was 4 of us female (55, 26, 25 & 14) - Not privilege / premium
I was very nervous to go here as some of the reviews were terrible and I was dreading itJust returned from a 7 day stay at Ocean Blue and Sand - for context there was 4 of us female (55, 26, 25 & 14) - Not privilege / premium
I was very nervous to go here as some of the reviews were terrible and I was dreading it however in short it was a lovely holiday, the grounds were well kept and I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
Main points.
- they prefer US dollar to their own currency, bring extra for tips.
- we had 2 rooms both were very clean (7210 and 7226), air conditioning worked perfectly could do with a little updating and in my room my TV didn’t connect to the internet however my mums room her one did and she could access YouTube but we did not spend a lot of time in the rooms so was not a big problem. The view from the room was not great could only see trees and the worker men carrying stock.
- Food!!! So much of a variety and I am a picky eater the buffet is great with live cooking and fantastic deserts there are numerous restaurants to choose from I really enjoyed the Japanese and the Italian restaurant. Although booking the Japanese one was very confusing had to do it online and I was randomly allocated a time , the steakhouse required you to line up at 7:30am to get a slot , the steak is massive and served on a hot plate that you can burn yourself on - I didn’t quite enjoy it to thick and fatty for me. Mikes coffee also deserves a mention as that was some great coffee and cakes. The ice cream parlour was delicious with a range of different flavours
- “Welcome package” after reading on here (thank you) we managed to avoid them hounding us to upgrade or book next year but they were out every morning trying to get people to talk to them. On the beach it’s hard to relax as you have people hounding you for different things such as pictures with parrots , monkeys even a dodgy man offering drugs.
- The cocktails are honestly not the best I enjoyed some outside of the hotel if I had to choose a favourite I would say ocean blue but only from the reception / lobby bar, the rest seemed weak in alcohol and very lemony no matter which one I tried but the bar staff are lovely ! A great vibe and very quick service.
- As with everywhere there are people who wake up at the crack of dawn to reserve sun beds and umbrellas- very annoying as we noticed a family of 6 reserve them and not return for a good 3 hours which was a waste.
- Entertainment was great they put on a great show. My favourite was the international quiz where you could use your phone to answer the questions. Bingo was every night but it didn’t look very enjoyable
- We did go to the nightclub in the hotel but was not a vibe- mainly Spanish music.
- The worst thing is the shop! Extortionate prices $20 for 2 cans of Pringles , $17 for a box of tampons. Spa was also extremely expensive fraction of the price for a massage on saona island (we booked through tui would 10000% recommend).
